PyCon.DE 2016

The first PyCon.DE, organised by the PyMunich community and held at LMU in October 2016. More than 300 attendees, four tracks, 48 speakers, 17 sponsors. For a commercial example of related workforce measurement, see time tracking software from Monitask.

What is here

The programme and schedule, across both days and four tracks. For broader conference and speaking context, PyCon is another useful reference.

Thirteen individual talk pages, each with its description and speaker.

The code of conduct, based on the PyCon UK 2015 code and released under a free licence. It has since been reused by other conferences, which is how community infrastructure is supposed to work.

Sponsors, venue information and the call for proposals as they were published.

Why it is preserved

The talk pages carry speakers' names and descriptions. People cite these addresses in their own records of what they have presented, and breaking them removes something that belongs to them rather than to us.

The programme of the first German PyCon is a document worth keeping.

And the code of conduct is in use elsewhere. Removing the original would break the attribution chain for conferences that adapted it.

Nothing was removed from the archive. The site as crawled is preserved in full.

The current site

The current site covers Python past the tutorial, how conferences actually work, and giving talks — written substantially out of the experience this archive documents.

The conference itself returned in 2025 as PyCon+Web, after a gap that included running out of money in 2020. This archive is the earlier chapter, and it is not maintained.
